JavaForge to Shut Down on 31 March 2016

blog-150107-javaforgeOur open-source platform JavaForge was started back in 2005 to support open-source development by providing free hosting, tools and services for various development projects. To date, JavaForge has 110,000 registered users taking advantage of our free project hosting, document management, wikis, forum, chat, issue tracking, as well as Git, Subversion and Mercurial integration. The technology behind JavaForge is our integrated Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) system codeBeamer.

In recent years, we have seen a number of excellent open-source tools emerge – in fact, the Intland team also has an open-source project hosted on GitHub. Since open-source development & JavaForge is not part of the core business of Intland Software (as we are primarily invested in the development of codeBeamer ALM),

we have decided to shut down JavaForge on 31 March 2016.

There are various great alternatives out there, so you should be able to simply find a substitute open-source platform that suits your needs.

Going forward, we are going to be focusing on codeBeamer ALM, which of course includes all the source code management features of JavaForge, along with ever-expanding functionality in terms of demand and requirements management, software development, QA & testing, DevOps, variants management, risk management, and the list goes on.

Starting today, we have disabled new project creation on JavaForge, and new users can no longer be registered. Please make sure you export your projects from JavaForge before 31 March 2016 in order to make sure no data gets lost.

How to migrate your data from JavaForge

If you'd rather keep working on your project, your most simple option is to download codeBeamer ALM, and simply migrate your project over to this advanced platform. While allowing you to continue working uninterrupted, this also enables you to take advantage of codeBeamer's widespread Application Lifecycle Management capabilities. Fore more information on licensing, please email us at sales@intland.com.

Otherwise, you will be able to simply use the built-in functionality of JavaForge to export your data. If you'd like an SVN dump, or are looking for some help with migrating your data off of JavaForge, please don't hesitate to email us at javaforge-shutdown@intland.com.

We would like to thank all our users for their support and continued use of JavaForge, we sincerely think this has been a great period. We're wishing our users all the best in their future projects, and would love to welcome them to the growing family of codeBeamer users.
